HCASA December Meeting

The December meeting of HCASA took place on Wednesday 1st December, 7pm-9pm at Cranbourne School, Wessex Close, Basingstoke RG21 3NP, Room F6.
This meeting included:
- Inauguration of HCASA President for 2011, Mike Lambert (Basingstoke Bluefins SC)
- Update on progress over the last 6 months in all disciplines
- Discussion on possible changes to constitution
- Nibbles and time to socialise
Diving and Synchro Win Awards in Hampshire

Sport Hampshire & IOW held the annual Hampshire Sports Awards at the Hampshire Rosebowl on Wednesday 25 March. The event recognised and rewarded sporting achievements throughout the county, celebrating commitment to and excellence in coaching, volunteering, participation and performance with Diving and Synchro winning awards.

Olympic finalist Blake Aldridge heads up the 14-strong squad aiming to win the second annual KlingerCook Trophy just three months after he competed at the Beijing Olympic Games.
County Swimmers Prepare for Olympic Challenge

Swimmers, Divers and Synchronised Swimmers from the county will be making their final preparations in Beijing today as they prepare for the challenge of their lives at the Olympic Games.
Portsmouth Northsea's Gemma Spofforth will be taking part in the 100m Backstroke tomorrow and returning to the pool for the 200m Backstroke later in the week.
Southampton based Blake Aldridge will be partnering 14-year old Tom Daley in the 10m Synchronised Diving on Monday while team-mate Stacie Powell will be taking part in the Womens event on Tuesday.
In the second week of the Games, Olivia Allison and Jenna Randall from Rushmoor will be representing Team GB in the Synchronised Duet competition.
Stacie Powell will return to the boards for her individual event (the 10m Platform) on the second Wednesday. Peter Waterfield will have to wait until Day 14 of the Games before he can take part in the Mens 10m Platform on Friday 22nd August.

Waterfield Secures Olympic Spot

Southampton Diver Peter Waterfield has secured his place at the summer's Olympic Games in Bejing by finishing eighth in the 10m Platform at the FINA World Cup.
Diving Coach Recognised by Sports Coach UK

Diving coach Charly Tomkys has been recognised at the 2007 Sports Coach UK Coaching Awards which recognised coaching excellence. She will now be invited to the national ceremony where they will be presented with this awards by HRH The Princess Royal.

The Quay's in Southampton contains one of few 10m diving boards in the region. The County's divers have success at all levels - including an Olympic Silver medal for Pete Waterfield in Athens.
