Hampshire Masters & Senior Competition 2009 - 7th June 2009

Posted on 09 Jun 2009 at 12:31 by Raymond Geoffrey Stokes (Masters) (0 user comment)

There was a record number of entries for this meet at Waterlooville with 150 individual entries and 45 team entries.  It was a great success although the high entry numbers meant that it overran by about half an hour.   The top club was Winchester City Penguins, which also had the highest number of entrants, 31, the top female was Susan Dewar from Havant and Waterlooville and the top male Gavin Watson from Rushmoor Royals.

We were glad to welcome John Harrison from the Royal Navy who at 95 years old was by far the oldest competitor, and Joan Kidd, 82, from the Isle of Wight Marlins who was the oldest female competitor.  There was also a good number of Seniors in the 18 to 24 years old age group.  It was pleasing to see so many young "Masters" who will, hopefully, stay in the sport for a long time.
