Diving and Synchro Win Awards in Hampshire

Sport Hampshire & IOW held the annual Hampshire Sports Awards at the Hampshire Rosebowl on Wednesday 25 March. The event recognised and rewarded sporting achievements throughout the county, celebrating commitment to and excellence in coaching, volunteering, participation and performance with Diving and Synchro winning awards.
Sporting Apprentices Graduate

Ninety-four top athletes from the world of aquatics – including double Olympic Gold medallist Becky Adlington – graduated from the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) on Saturday 28th March. Two athletes from the county were honoured with “Advanced Apprentice of the Year” awards.
Allison Excited by Junior Talent

Last year proved to be the most successful 12 months in Olivia Allison’s career after she competed in the 2008 Olympics with her duet partner Jenna Randall. Their performance in the Beijing Water Cube surpassed everyone’s expectations and showed the rest of the world just where British Synchro is heading.

Prestigious Awards for HCASA Past Presidents

The two most pretigious awards in English swimming have both been awarded to Past Presidents of Hampshire County ASA. The Harold Fern Award and the Alfred H. Turner Award are awarded to the man and woman who have made the most outstanding contibution to swimming at National or International level. This year these awards go to
- Maragaret Bell (HCASA President, 1993)
- Mike Firmin (HCASA President, 1977 and 2000)
County Swimmers Prepare for Olympic Challenge

Swimmers, Divers and Synchronised Swimmers from the county will be making their final preparations in Beijing today as they prepare for the challenge of their lives at the Olympic Games.
Portsmouth Northsea's Gemma Spofforth will be taking part in the 100m Backstroke tomorrow and returning to the pool for the 200m Backstroke later in the week.
Southampton based Blake Aldridge will be partnering 14-year old Tom Daley in the 10m Synchronised Diving on Monday while team-mate Stacie Powell will be taking part in the Womens event on Tuesday.
In the second week of the Games, Olivia Allison and Jenna Randall from Rushmoor will be representing Team GB in the Synchronised Duet competition.
Stacie Powell will return to the boards for her individual event (the 10m Platform) on the second Wednesday. Peter Waterfield will have to wait until Day 14 of the Games before he can take part in the Mens 10m Platform on Friday 22nd August.
